Here’s the url to my review of Pete Dexter’s new novel, Spooner<\/em>, which appears today in the Dallas Morning News:

\nIt’s a terrific book. For Dexter fans, I’d say it’s my favorite since Deadwood<\/em> and Paris Trout<\/em>, vaulting it over The Paperboy<\/em>, which is a good novel, but rather somber and murky. Spooner<\/em> is out-and-out funny at times, such as toward the end, when it describes the end of a feud between Spooner and a pair of gay weight-lifters, and earlier, when it describes Spooner’s sadsack career as a door-to-door salesman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
