Hats Off to Texas Hope

So I grew up in Texas and lived there until the age of 27, and still have much affection for the Lone Star State. Actually my long-term attitude about the state is quite the love/hate relationship. If she were my girlfriend we would have broken up many times . . . and then got back together. The people are friendly, warm, and unpretentious; the politics are usually awful. To all the Dems who got elected: I hope you do a good job, and make us proud. Here’s the Texas I know well: The Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park.

As an expat Texan I’m glad to see they aren’t all Republican stooges. I resent how the Lone Star State is often portrayed as chockfull of right-wing dumbasses. There’s plenty of them, but ALL Texans aren’t like that. This is at least some evidence. Go Longhorns!
